Ethical leadership coaching for prosperous working life

Code of Conduct Company had the pleasure to contribute to a joint project (HYVE) targeted to leaders and entrepreneurs in Lapland’s tourism industry as the provider of ethical leadership coaching. The EU co-funded project, led by Lapland University of Applied Sciences, aims to strengthen the ethical leadership competence of those working in supervisory and management roles as well as entrepreneurs, and to develop workplace practices in order to promote well-being and good working life.

During the coaching programme implemented in late spring and autumn 2025, we met with the participants almost monthly, either in person in Rovaniemi or remotely via virtual sessions. In addition to the in-person and online meetings, participants deepened their understanding of ethical leadership and organizational culture through a curated online learning programme that complemented the coaching. The in-person sessions in particular received a great deal of positive feedback—not only for the content, but also for the opportunity they provided for participants to meet one another around engaging topics and to share experiences with other industry professionals.

The coaching programme was designed based on the project’s objectives as well as the participants’ wishes and needs. Various themes related to an ethically sustainable working life were addressed through lectures and workshop-based activities. The themes of the coaching journey included, for example:

  • Creating and leading an ethically sustainable organizational culture
  • Ethical decision-making and blind spots
  • Working in diverse teams and cross-cultural understanding
  • How to have difficult conversations and foster psychological safety

The aim of the coaching was to provide tools and develop participants’ skills from the perspective of responsible leadership, and to strengthen their capabilities to reduce ethical stress and enhance resilience. The programme was scheduled in a way that enabled participating tourism operators to immediately apply their learning in practical supervisory work as the peak season began.

“Working with Code of Conduct Company made it possible to address the ethical challenges of supervisory work through practical examples, while still being firmly grounded in research-based knowledge. Niina and Kia succeeded in making even difficult topics concrete and were approachable as trainers. The cooperation was smooth throughout the entire process.”

Mari Angeria, lecturer, Lapland University of Applied Sciences
