Anti-corruption as part of Elenia’s leadership training

At Elenia, anti-corruption is included in leadership training as part of a broader development of ethical conduct. The anti‑corruption program includes e.g. regular risk assessments, maintenance of processes related to reporting misconduct, and guidelines against corruption and bribery. Online training targeted at supervisors is mandatory, and the topic is also included in other training and communications related to ethical business practices.

In 2025, Elenia wanted to highlight anti‑corruption as a special theme for its leadership days. The goal was to target the training especially to those supervisors who participate in procurement, recruitment, and decision‑making as part of their work.

Code of Conduct Company had the honor of contributing to the training day. Our founder, Niina Ratsula, gave a presentation and facilitated a discussion covering definitions and forms of corruption, research findings, and current examples from the media. The conversation became so engaging that a virtual follow‑up session was recorded and made available afterward.

Elenia’s leadership day was an example of anti‑corruption at its best: sharing experiences, pausing to reflect on difficult questions, and engaging in respectful dialogue on topics that do not always have straightforward answers.

“Under Niina’s facilitation, we had very good and lively discussions. Participants brought up issues many may have considered individually but had not previously been able to articulate or did not have a broader forum for. The training clearly resonated, and we continued on the same theme with a video training and group discussion three months after the first event. For us, the topic does not remain at the level of written guidelines, it comes up in our everyday work. Everyone can deepen their understanding via further discussions,” says Minna Huuskonen, Head of Internal Audit at Elenia.
