Introducing the Code of Conduct to Keva’s personnel through ethical dilemmas

Keva has been working systematically to embed its Code of Conduct into everyday work, and regular training on the topic is provided for personnel. This time, the focus was to have a “Getting to Know the Code of Conduct” event for the entire staff, where the role and significance of ethical principles in daily work were explored.

At the beginning of the event, Niina from Code of Conduct Company gave an introductory presentation reflecting on why complying with ethical principles is not always self-evident, what sometimes prevents us from making decisions in line with them, and how each of us can contribute to a culture where unwritten rules align with written ones.

After the introduction, Keva moderated a panel discussion with participation from Niina and Keva employees. We examined four different ethical dilemmas and highlighted various perspectives that need to be considered in order to make ethically sound decisions. In conclusion, we noted that although rules often sound black and white, the answers are rarely straightforward. To make better decisions, we need to take different perspectives into account, and also consider how situations may appear to others.

At Keva, we think it is important that our Code of Conduct is regularly brought into different discussions. In Compliance, we are committed to communicating this message whenever possible. However, the most essential factor is leading by example. I know that our Board also values a responsible operating culture and, for its part, encourages the nurturing of a culture that is in line with our Code of Conduct.
