Supporting the creation and implementation of Raute’s Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct Company had the pleasure of supporting Raute in renewing its ethical principles (Code of Conduct). Raute provides comprehensive solutions for the entire production process of veneer, plywood, and LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber). To help embed the ethical principles into everyday operations, we co-created a handbook and an online training course (e-learning) that explore the practical application of ethics at work from various perspectives.
The Code of Conduct, handbook, and e-learning were translated into multiple languages to support Raute’s diverse workforce. As a highlight of the collaboration, we also facilitated workshops that sparked dialogue and reflection on how ethical principles can guide sustainable decision-making in everyday work and what kind of ethical blind spots might sometimes prevent us from acting ethically. These workshops engaged Raute’s leadership and personnel globally.
The update of the ethical principles took place after a strategy update, which provided a natural opportunity to reflect on ethics alongside major business shifts. The Code of Conduct and themes of ethical business conduct aligned seamlessly with Raute’s new strategy, which strongly emphasizes responsibility and sustainability.
The project began with an employee survey to explore employees’ views on ethical conduct and organizational culture, and involving everyone in the process of creating the Code of Conduct. This groundwork was complemented by interviews that allowed us to delve into everyday situations from the perspective of different roles where ethical principles are applied.
The renewed materials have received widespread positive feedback and sparked meaningful conversations about ethical practices. Raute’s Head of HR, Tarja Moilanen, especially praised the online training for its use of real-life examples. She sees the ethical principles as a significant foundation for building Raute’s organizational culture.
