Supporting Glaston in human rights due diligence
Code of Conduct Company acted as a partner to glass technology company Glaston in developing its human rights due diligence processes.
The development of human rights responsibility focused on identifying high-level human rights risks and impacts. Together with the client, we conducted a current state analysis based on key stakeholder interviews and a review of relevant documentation. Based on this background work, we identified the most significant human rights–related risks and impacts in Glaston’s operations and validated our findings in a workshop together with the client. At the same time, we mapped existing risk management measures to mitigate negative human rights impacts and provided recommendations to ensure the implementation of human rights due diligence.
As an outcome of the collaboration, we produced a description of the key human rights risks and impacts relevant to Glaston, as well as the measures used to manage these risks and impacts. Based on this, we developed a roadmap for the systematic advancement of human rights responsibility work, which serves as a foundation for Glaston’s Human Rights Due Diligence process. The work also resulted in a public human rights commitment for Glaston.
The analysis was conducted in accordance with the framework defined by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which also form the basis for the upcoming EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). The directive strengthens the obligations of large companies to address actual and potential adverse impacts on people and the environment arising from their own operations as well as those of their subsidiaries and business partners.
”We were very satisfied with the cooperation with Code of Conduct Company in conducting the human rights assessment and developing the action plan. Niina and Kia took a practical approach and were able to adapt the methodology and scope well to our operating environment. The interviews were handled professionally, and the project stayed well on schedule and within budget. The resulting roadmap helps us further develop our operations. I can recommend Code of Conduct Company to other companies for similar projects as well!”
